ATV Insurance
Who needs ATV Insurance?
All Terrain Vehicle Insurance protects your
ATV from major damage and protects your assets from liability due to
damages to other property or persons caused by your ATV.
Many ATV's can go as fast as 55 MPH and can weigh as much as a
quarter ton so it's especially important to follow safety
precautions. Wearing helmets, having adult supervision for children
and taking operating classes should be a must, among other
precautions.
Some states
do not require ATV insurance. If you ride your ATV on your own
property you may be covered by your homeowners policy. On the other
hand if you ride on public property, you may be required to
purchase separate ATV insurance.
Certain states require that you insure all-terrain vehicles driven
on state land. Your basic homeowner policy might not cover you if
you operate your ATV off your own property. Be sure to check the insurance
requirements for your state and your own insurance policies.
Types of
ATV coverage include:
Comprehensive:
This covers the loss of, or damage to, your ATV and-or trailer
due to fire, theft, vandalism, or other cause. Choose the deductible
that best fits your needs.
Collision:
Covers damages to your ATV if you run into an obstacle or another
vehicle. Since ATV's are often driven aggressively over rough
terrain, your policy will likely not cover minor dents, scratches
and other nonstructural damage.
Liability:
This covers damage done to people or other vehicles. Choose
liability limits that best suit your needs.
Uninsured and Underinsured:
Protection against another rider causing damage to you or your
vehicle without adequate coverage.
What ATV Insurance discounts are available?
Many insurance companies offer discounts to help lower your
premium such as:
1) Multiple vehicle discount.
2) ATV safety course discount.
3) Discount for membership in certain vehicle associations.
